Venice Couple Photoshoot

A Relaxed Day Exploring the City After Elopement

After the emotion and intimacy of their elopement wedding day (which you can read and see here:  Venice Elopement Photographer – A Real Wedding Story + Expert Tips for Your Elopement in Venice), we met up the next morning for something a little more relaxed — a couple photoshoot through the quieter corners of Venice, just the two of them, soaking in their newlywed glow. No schedule. No expectations. Just time together in one of the most magical cities in the world.

A Venice Bookshop Like No Other

We started the morning at Libreria Acqua Alta, a bookshop unlike any other. Tucked away in a quiet street, it’s often called one of the most beautiful bookshops in the world — and for good reason. Books are stacked high, stored in gondolas to protect them from Venice’s infamous flooding, and piled into staircases you can climb.

Emily and Aaron made their way up the book wall for a few playful photos, before finding the gondola tucked at the back of the shop, where they sat together, surrounded by books and that unmistakable sense of old-world charm.

Croissants, Gelato & Wandering Streets

After the bookshop, we wandered the nearby streets — the kind of slow-paced walking Venice was made for. They stopped at a small bakery for fresh croissants and ate them walking hand in hand. We made our way to Suso, one of Venice’s most well-known gelaterias, where Emily and Aaron picked their flavours and found a nearby bridge to sit on. It’s always those simple moments — pastry crumbs, melting ice cream, a quiet view over the canal — that end up being the most memorable to photograph.

Champagne to Finish

To wrap up their weekend of celebration, they popped a bottle of champagne in the sunshine — a final toast to the most unforgettable few days in Venice. As a destination wedding and elopement photographer, I love being able to offer this kind of extended storytelling. Whether it’s documenting the day before, the morning after, or just joining you for a relaxed shoot while you explore the place you chose to say your vows — these moments add even more depth to your memories.
